There are several good places to shop in Delaware. Whether you go to Wilmington, Newark or Dover you will find excellent stores of all kinds, and the best part is that your purchases will be tax-free! Find out which are the best malls in Delaware, which fashion brands stand out in each one, all about their outlets, where you can find department stores, restaurants and more.
Malls in Delaware
Among all the malls in Delaware, there is no other that has more stores than the Christiana Mall. With three department stores, more than a hundred fashion stores as well as good restaurants, it is a must-do. Also here is the only branch in the entire state of the luxury department store, Nordstrom. This store is one of the favorites of lovers of exclusive fashion brands, since you can find the latest collections of the best designers. It is also famous for its extraordinary makeup and skincare department.
The other department stores that the mall has are Macy’s and JCPenney, in addition to having a Target in its facilities. Shopping options are abundant as there are many stores to explore such as Cotton: On, Michael Kors, Aldo, J.Jill, White House Black Market or Sephora. But there are places for everyone as children will want to visit the Lego Store or Build-a-Bear or if you are looking for sportswear you should not miss Lululemon, The North Face or Fabletics. Not everything is shopping, since you can also go see a movie or have dinner at one of its restaurants that include The Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle or Brio.

Christiana Fashion Center
There is no doubt that Newark has several of the best malls in Delaware, and in this excellent shopping area there is also the Christiana Fashion Center. And just as Nordstrom is very close at the Christiana Mall, here is its outlet store: Nordstrom Rack. It is not as expensive as the other one, since you can find great discounts, although there are not so many luxury brands (but there are some pretty good things!). It is not the only good store in the Fashion Center where REI (where you will find everything you need to go camping or practice outdoor activities), Best Buy, Ulta Beauty and The Container Store also stand out.
Many people flock here to visit the famous grocery store, Trade Joe’s. It is one of the favorites for its excellent selection of organic foods and all kinds of ingredients. You can also buy baby clothes at Carter’s, discount shoes at Famous Footwear or furniture and home decor at Fortunoff Backyard Store and Kirkland’s. In case you want to eat something, you don’t have to go to the other mall since there are several restaurants here like Chili’s, Turning Point or Jersey Mike’s.
- Address: 2400 Center Blvd S, Newark, DE
- Other Stores: Chico´s, David´s Bridal, DXL, Lane Bryant, Talbots
- Hours: Monday to Saturday 10AM to 8PM, Sunday 11AM to 6PM
Another of the malls in Delaware that you should visit is the Concord Mall. It has been receiving shoppers since 1965, having a good selection of stores, standing out for being the second largest mall in the State. It is located north of Wilmington and among its most important stores are H&M, Victoria’s Secret, FYE, The Children’s Place and Foot Locker.
If you like shopping at department stores, there are two in the mall: Macy’s (which also has a home store) and Boscov’s. There aren’t many restaurants in this mall, but if you get hungry you can go for seafood at Bonefish Grill or a chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A. Just crossing the parking lot you will find more stores like Best Buy, Ulta Beauty or the Sprouts supermarket.

Brandywine Town Center
Very close to the Concord Mall is another shopping center that complements its range of stores. Brandywine Town Center is home to many big box stores such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond or Target. The variety of businesses is quite wide in this place since you can buy from plants, tools and building supplies at Lowe’s, products for arts and crafts at Michaels to musical instruments at Guitar Center.
But that’s not all as there are movie theatres, several furniture stores, a Pet Smart and the Old Navy clothing store. If you drive (or walk) a bit you will come across more stores including Trader Joe’s and T.J.Maxx as well as other restaurants and small shops.
- Address: 3300 Brandywine Pkwy, Wilmington, DE
- Hours: Monday to Sunday 9AM to 9PM
Dover is also home to one of the largest malls in Delaware. Not all shopping options are in Newark or Wilmington, as there is also a mall in this city: the Dover Mall. It has been open for more than 40 years, and although some major stores have closed lately, it still has good shops open. For example, you can go to Boscov’s, Macy’s (with its outlet store) or JCPenney. At Dick’s Sporting Goods you can find everything you need for any type of sport.
There are not a few clothing stores in Dover Mall since you can go to Forever 21, Old Navy, American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret or Aeropostale among others. And to have a fun time you can see the latest film releases at the AMC movie theaters.
- Address: 1365 N Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE
- Other Stores: Claire´s, Foot Locker, Lids, Spencers, Rue21, Torrid, Zumiez

Kirkwood Plaza may not be one of the largest malls in Delaware, but there are some businesses that might catch your eye. Among its stores, without a doubt the one that stands out the most is Kohl’s. This department store (which has been recently renovated) is very popular thanks to its good prices and variety of products for the whole family. Another place that you cannot miss in the mall is Price Busters Discount Furniture. In this store you have authentic bargains in furniture for your home with a very good design. Michaels, Petco, Sally Beauty and Dollar Tree are other stores in Kirkwood Plaza as well as a grocery store: ACME Markets.

Outlets in Delaware
Tanger Outlets Rehoboth
To find the best deals on your favorite fashion brands, there is no better plan than going to the Tanger Outlets Rehoboth. These are not only the only outlets in Delaware, they are one of the most unique in the country. This is because they are divided into three buildings: Beach, Bayside & Surfside. But you should not worry, all the buildings are very close to each other (although it is better to drive than to walk). It is a place that cannot be missing from the list of any shopaholic since you can take advantage of both the offers and the tax free, so the prices you will find are quite good.
You must visit all three, since there are very good brands in each one. Stores such as Nike, Michael Kors, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hugo Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren and Coach stand out. But that’s not all, as you can also take advantage of great discounts at Tommy Bahama, Under Armour, Calvin Klein, J.Crew and the North Face outlet stores, among many others.
- Address: 36470 Seaside Outlet Dr, Rehoboth Beach, DE
- Other Stores: Adidas, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Champion, Columbia, Ecco, GAP, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger
- Hours: Monday to Thursday 10AM to 8PM, Friday & Saturday 10AM to 9PM, Sunday 10AM to 7PM
Other Places to Go Shopping in Delaware
Christiana Town Center: Very close to two of the main malls in Delaware, this place complements the excellent offer of stores in the area. It cannot be compared in size to the other shopping centers within walking distance, but it does include famous stores. The largest is the Boscov’s department store, but you can also shop for toys, clothing and a variety of other items at Five Below, shop for household products at Bed Bath & Beyond or clothes for the whole family at Old Navy. The ALDI grocery store is also located here. Just beside is the store of clothes and products for babies: buybuyBaby or children can have fun at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park.
Midway Plaza: In the west of Wilmington (and near Kirkwood Plaza) is this small shopping center that has Marshalls as one of its most important stores. It is one of the most visited discount stores for having clothes and accessories from various famous fashion brands at good prices. And something good about this store is that it also includes HomeGoods, so you can also find a wide variety of home decor, kitchenwear, and more. Other stores in Midway Plaza include Five Below, the Mandee clothing store as well as Music & Arts (which, as the name suggests, is a store that sells musical instruments and accessories), as well as a few restaurants.
